Our breeding program is based on the proven performance of the Chiefline genetic influence from the herd of George and Vernice Chiga. The Chiga's were one of the founding members of the Red Angus Association of America.

Chiefline genetics have over seventy-five years of performance testing for cattle that are highly fertile, fast growing, easy calving and have excellent carcass traits. The cattle in our herd are embryo progeny from three proven chief blood line cows who each produced at least ten calves prior to being selected as donor females from a herd of over 200 females. These cows had to prove they were the best for a production life time prior to being flushed. The resulting progeny are the foundation of our herd and have 100% proven performance backed by production records for all performance traits as well as proven carcass performance. The sires used to produce progeny from these proven cows are also proven producers of the highest performing cattle in the Red Angus breed. Choctaw Chief 373, Sandia Chief, who was the only Golden Certified Meat Sire the Red Angus breed has produced, Taos Chief a Certified Meat Sire, Cherokee Chief the sire of the Champion steer and reserve champion carcass at the 2002 San Antonio Live Stock Exposition and the reserve champion Steer at the 2002 Houston and Superior Chief the Reserve National Champion Red Angus bull in 1980 make up our battery of sires. We believe that these sires and dams give Miller Red Angus the predictability for increased performance, breed leading carcass and tenderness traits that are better than any other Red Angus cattle. The progeny from these legendary Chiefline cattle will allow you the opportunity to purchase bulls, females, semen and embryos with over 75 years of selection for the most economically important traits. The uniformity and predictability of these cattle will increase the profitability of your operation. The emphasis of Miller Red Angus on both production efficiency as well as carcass traits is a corner stone for the profitable production of beef cattle.

The EPDs of these cattle are not useful in their evaluation since they were not calculated during their time in production. It will take a few years of production by these new Chiefline cattle in order to establish their EPD performance. The consistency of the performance of the cattle do not allow for the large variation needed to produce high numbers. The weaning weights, yearling weights and ratios for each are a much better indicator of their performance at this time. I hope you will like the usefulness of these cattle. They do not require supplemental feed, have an excellent temperament, calve by 20 months of age and every 12 months afterward, wean at 600 to 700 pounds under a north central Texas environment and have superior marbling scores as well as USDA quality grades and USDA yield grades. The final product produced from Chiefline genetics is perfect for the feedlot, packer and consumer. Chiefline genetics are proven for superiority in carcass traits and eating satisfaction by consumers. George Chiga used the term "convenience cattle" to describe Chiefline cattle.

Please feel free to ask about our breeding program and our philosophy in producing cattle that will meet the needs of the cattle breeder, feedlot operator, packer and consumer in the next century. We believe you will be surprised to find a herd of superior Chiefline Red Angus with over 75 years of data and research to back them.
