Recent Activities

The Red Angus Juniors from Kansas held their annual Young Stockman’s contest in conjunction with the Kansas Red Angus Field Day on August 12 at the C Bar Ranch. To begin the day, the juniors joined the adults on a pasture tour, viewing some really nice Red Angus and Pro-Cow heifers and cow-calf pairs. Back at the ranch, 20 juniors participated in the contests, consisting of cattle evaluation questions, equipment ID, and a written Red Angus quiz. There were some awesome prizes for the juniors to work for this year, including show sticks, sorting sticks, halters, feed pans, gloves, buckets and many more. Thank you to all businesses and ranches who donated. Also, huge thanks to Laura and Cole Mushrush and Cassie Kniebel for putting together the contest and tabulating results.

After the contest, KJRA held their annual meeting and discussed plans for the upcoming year. It was decided to add sales and skill-a-thon divisions to the KJRA Young Stockman’s contest next year and that each member should accumulate 3 donated prizes to bring. Members voted to keep dues at $15/year. New officers were elected. President: Chris Mushrush; Vice President: Wyatt Durst; Secretary: Cassidy Rathbun.
