I want to welcome you to our annual production sale. This is our 13th auction and our 25th year raising Red Angus. I am pleased with this years offering with new sire lines as well as proven lines that meet the changing needs of the beef industry. Traits such as efficiency and disposition are important to us in that feed costs and labor issues are continuing concerns in the cattle industry. Red Angus have positioned themselves as the efficiency experts with dispositions that put fun into raising cattle. Red Angus cattle are efficient, fertile, functional, easy to handle and easy to look at as well as commanding top market prices.

What a start to a new year with cattle prices at or near all time highs! Cow prices are reported at up to $2000 per head and Red Angus replacement females are bringing as much as or more than their steer mates. With cow numbers at a sixty year low I think we can expect high prices for the foreseeable future. We have spent the last forty or fifty years feeding lots of cheap corn in our feedlots. The next few years we will try to feed as little corn as possible and still produce the product that our customers demand. No breed is better positioned to do that than Red Angus.
